What to check before you specify

Interior finishing

Most clad wood ships unfinished inside, and warranties often require finishing within 30 days. Put it in the painter's schedule.

Divided lites

Simulated divided lites (bars bonded both sides with a spacer between) look close to true divided lites and keep better thermal performance.

Manufacturer warranties

Each line carries its manufacturer warranty. Check the registration deadline: missing it can shorten coverage.

Common questions

Do clad wood windows rot?

The cladding protects the exterior, but water that gets behind cladding or at sill joints can still rot wood. Installation, flashing and sill pans matter more than the brand.
